Oncology Jobs Get New Leader
Those with oncology jobs (
Click here) at one local hospital will soon be led by someone known for his professional and personal accomplishments.
Edgar Staren, M.D., Ph.D., MBA was recently named as president and CEO of
Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Western Regional Medical Center in Goodyear, a nearby suburb of Phoenix. He will bring a unique perspective to the position, as he is a seven-year cancer survivor.
CTCA at Western Regional Medical Center is home to the Patient Empowered Care model, which combines state-of-the-art clinical treatments and technology with a variety of scientifically-based complementary therapies.
Staren has many big plans for CTCA, all of which will enhance the employee and patient experience. For example, he plans to bring a variety of new, state-of-the-art
treatment options and technology to the facility.
"How would you want your mother treated?" he asked in a statement. "That's a question every employee asks themselves everyday when caring for our patients. I am excited about my next chapter with CTCA and serving cancer patients and their families from across the country. My family and I also look forward to living in Arizona."
Staren has previously worked as:
- Senior vice president for clinical affairs and chief medical officer for Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
- Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery and medical director of the Cancer Institute at the Medical College of Ohio.
- President of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Well-known as an academic and clinical surgical oncologist, Staren has expertise in breast, liver, and endocrine glands diseases. He has been published more than 250 times and has delivered more than 150 invited presentations throughout the world.
Staren has regularly been listed among America's Top Doctors, the Best Doctors in America, America's Top Surgeons, and America's Top Doctors for Cancer.
