Update on the CT job market
Although many are still hurting in the Connecticut economy, at least things aren't getting worse.
CT jobs growth has stabilized which is good news for nutmeggers.
Here's what the CT DOL had to say about the job market this fall:
After several months of private sector growth, Connecticut lost jobs in September, with the bulk of its losses in the private sector. September’s decrease brings the state’s nonfarm employment to 1,610,600. On a seasonally adjusted basis, this represents a drop of 3,000 jobs over the year, when nonfarm employment totaled 1,613,600. The state’s unemployment rate was unchanged between August and September at 9.1 percent, half a percentage point below the national rate of 9.6 percent.
“September’s report show that the jobs market continues to be unstable,” said Labor Statistics Supervisor Salvatore DiPillo. “And while we’ve seen some overall improvement in the past several months in the average workweek, average wages, and new claims for unemployment insurance, we can expect to see monthly fluctuations in the economic indicators until the recovery has taken a foothold.”Connecticut job boards such as
FairfieldCountyJobs.com, one of the states top job boards are finally growing again. Their site has seen a 10% rise in postings since August.
