Brian Balfour's blog leads to job

Brian Balfour, a 23 year old who writes a blog called Social Degree, got his latest job through his own blog. The online profile site ZoomInfo hired him based on his blog. Russell Glass, VP of Marketing saw his blog and liked what he wrote about social networking and offered him a job. "I was impressed by the points brian was making and the way he was making them", said Glass.

Nice job Brian! Just another way people are blogging for jobs.

No, stories like this are not encouraging because they are so rare. I've been asked by journalists to supply examples of people who get jobs via their blogs. This is like # 3 that I'm aware of.

Now, a number of businesses, including headhunters, seem to find clients via their blogs but if we're talking about real "jobs" as opposed to engagements, there are very very few examples of this that I am aware of.

PS: I still owe you 20 bucks.
